September 2006 our first investment: PAWTON WISTERIA, a heifer sired by Visconti and out of Hazeldown Olivia and in calve to Dafydd. Wisteria was exactly what we were looking for to be the foundation of our herd; well balanced, excellent mobility, very good conformation along with the sweetest nature you could ask for.
So January 2007 arrived and Wisteria was due to calve, the nerves started to set in 'would we be able to calve her', 'what if it all goes wrong', 'please be ok'. Well panic over, as the dear lass popped out a lovely little bull calve. From then on Wisteria has never let us down.
We proceeded to flush Wisteria, producing 7 grade A embryo's by Dafydd, 4 of which held and resulted in two heifers and two bulls.
The 2 heifers (Darcia and Destinee) have been have been kept in the herd and will go to bull at appropriate times. The bulls (Donelly & Dell Boy) were little corkers, and Donelly was sold privately at the age of 13 months, but sadly Dell Boy broke his leg and had to be destroyed.
So after flushing, Wisteria went straight back to bull and calved again naturally, a very sweet heifer 'Delilah' who has also been kept within the herd.
10 months later she calved naturally again, also a heifer but sired by our own bull 'Norbreck Black Beauty'
And guess what? Straight back to bull and due to calve in may 2010.
She has also been very successful in the show ring, likewise so have her daughters. So as you can see Wisteria has been a huge asset to us starting out in this wonderful breed.
Our purchases since Wisteria have included heifers by sires such as, Baron, Sumo, Cristal, Dafydd, Union Jack, Black Beauty, Almeley Bouncer.
We have also purchased three bulls to use commercially and on our pedigrees.
